Local Land Services (LLS) is an Executive Agency of DPIRD providing quality, customer-focused services to landholders and communities across NSW. We deliver regionally based advice and support across agriculture, biosecurity, natural resource management, land management, biodiversity, emergency services and private native forestry.
As Director Policy, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight of policy and legislative reform programs for all of Local Land Services. You will lead the review, development, implementation and evaluation of regulatory policy frameworks to ensure they are evidence-based, contemporary, and responsive to government priorities and stakeholder needs.
This is a high-impact, senior leadership position focused on delivering real outcomes for NSW’s primary industries, landholders and communities.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Lead the development and implementation of regulatory policy reforms for Local Land Services, including providing strategic, evidence-based policy, scientific and economic advice.
- Design and deliver advisory and education programs to build stakeholder awareness and compliance.
- Oversee policy development, embedding best-practice governance, risk management and reporting frameworks.
- Build and sustain high-level partnerships across government, industry and the scientific community.
- Act as a knowledge leader, promoting evidence-based regulatory frameworks and knowledge transfer within LLS and DPIRD.
- Guide data collection and analysis to inform legislation and policy reforms.
- Coordinate legislation and policy reforms through Cabinet and Parliamentary processes.
- Provide expert advice, briefings and reports to the Executive Director Policy and Regulatory, Chief Executive Officer and Minister’s Office.

- Maintaining contemporary knowledge of regulatory practices and emerging trends in natural resource management.

- Navigate Cabinet and Parliamentary processes to deliver legislative change.
- Lead teams effectively, promote knowledge sharing, and inspire high performance.
- Deliver results in a fast-paced, politically sensitive environment.
Your exceptional influencing, negotiation and communication skills will be critical to your success in this role.
