About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Site Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the Condobolin Research Institute.

In this role, you’ll oversee the coordination of assets, resources, and equipment to support Departmental research programs, ensuring the site operates efficiently, safely, and effectively to deliver real value for the agricultural sector.

You will coordinate people, resources, and infrastructure to ensure the site runs efficiently, safely, and effectively. You’ll also lead a team of up to five staff, including Administrative, Maintenance, and Operational employees, creating a workplace that thrives on teamwork and service excellence.

About you

You’re an organised, proactive leader with strong operational and people management skills. You have experience managing facilities, budgets, and teams, and you’re confident making decisions that keep operations running smoothly.

You’re a great communicator who enjoys working collaboratively with researchers, staff, and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Current NSW Driver Licence and the ability and willingness to travel 
  • Experience in Technical Facilities Management preferably in a service delivery environment  
  • Practical knowledge and experience in farm management, including livestock and/or cropping operations.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.  

As the Site Manager, you will:

  • Lead and develop site operations to ensure cost effectiveness and research relevance.
  • Manage budgets, maintenance, capital works, and site administration.
  • Supervise and support staff, including performance management, workforce planning, and training.
  • Oversee the efficient management and use of facilities, livestock and cropping operations, infrastructure, and equipment.
  • Promote the site and its activities within the local community and industry.
  • Ensure safety, compliance, and resource efficiency across all operations.

Key challenges

  • Balancing competing resource demands across multiple research programs.
  • Maintaining high service levels while working within budget constraints.
  • Managing site security and safety for staff, contractors, and visitors.
