About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated leader to join the Animal Biosecurity team as Leader Animal Biosecurity Operations. This critical role coordinates the development and implementation of operational strategies, projects, and plans to ensure NSW is prepared for terrestrial and aquatic emergency animal pest and disease outbreaks.
You will lead a dedicated team responsible for operational readiness, including managing emergency response equipment, overseeing the Emergency Animal Disease (EAD) Hotline, and liaising with key stakeholders such as EMAI, industry groups, and other government agencies. Your work will directly support NSW DPIRD’s emergency management responsibilities and contribute to safeguarding animal health and biosecurity across the state.
About You
You are a proactive and collaborative leader with strong project management skills and a passion for biosecurity. You thrive in high-pressure environments, can manage competing priorities, and have exceptional stakeholder engagement capabilities. Your ability to influence, negotiate, and deliver results will be key to success in this role.
Essential Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in leading operational teams and managing projects in a complex environment.
- Strong knowledge of emergency animal diseases, biosecurity principles, and response frameworks.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to participate in on-call rotations for the EAD Hotline.
- Commitment to work health and safety and promoting a safe workplace culture.
