About the Opportunity

As a NSW Bee Biosecurity Officer, you’ll be at the forefront of increasing awareness and understanding of bee biosecurity issues and pest threats within the honey bee industry.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

  • Contributing to bee biosecurity projects to meet milestones.
  • Promoting best practices at agricultural events, field days, and farm tours.
  • Participating in training and providing expert advice on improving bee biosecurity.
  • Preparing resources to help industry stakeholders adopt biosecurity best practices.
  • Assisting with surveillance activities for high-priority pests.
  • Engaging in emergency pest responses and ensuring compliance with state and national policies.

To be successful, our ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of bee biosecurity issues and the honey bee industry in NSW.
  • A valid NSW Drivers licence and willingness to travel regularly
  • Strong communication skills to raise awareness and engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a diverse team
  • Physical capability to undertake fieldwork, including lifting, opening and working bee hives.
