About the Role
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Hunting and Plantations Regulation. In this role, you will lead the regulation of hunting and plantations in New South Wales (NSW). You will engage in both proactive and reactive regulatory activities, delivering licensing, approval, audit and compliance functions, and stakeholder education and engagement activities. This role offers a varied work experience leading a multi-disciplinary team and requires strong leadership skills and adaptability.
About You
The ideal candidate for the Director of Hunting and Plantations Regulation will have a strong background in implementing regulatory frameworks for natural resource management. Experience in plantations or hunting regulation would be highly regarded but is not essential.
You will have experience leading the development and execution of regulatory governance policies and procedures, ensuring effective compliance monitoring and reporting. A deep commitment to the NSW public sector values of trust, integrity, accountability and service, will be essential to your success in this role.
As a leader, you model the highest standards of ethical and professional behaviour, empower your staff and optimise resources, ensuring alignment with government, industry, and community priorities. You will bring a risk-based, outcomes-focused approach to licensing and compliance programs, promote industry education on regulatory changes.
You will be skilled at engaging with stakeholders across government, industry, and community, and able to expertly navigate complex issues, providing professional and customer-focussed services, in line with public sector and organisational objectives.
You’ll be someone who can:
- Develop regulatory programs and adapt priorities within business plans.
- Reallocate resources effectively to meet organisational needs.
- Lead a diverse, dispersed and multi-disciplinary team
- Drive continuous improvement in regulatory approaches
- Represent the NSW Government and engage with a broad range of stakeholders
