About the Role 

Join us as a strategic thinker helping shape the future of the NSW resources sector. This role offers meaningful work, career development, and the opportunity to influence policy and strategy across the NSW Government. This role is focused on strategy, policy and project delivery to support the NSW Critical Minerals and High-Tech Metals Strategy 2024-35. 

In this role, you will: 

  • Provide high-level advice on policy, regulatory reform, industry trends and emerging issues
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across government and industry. 
  • Work collaboratively across the Department to develop strategies for the NSW mining and exploration sector. 
  • Lead research and analysis to develop evidence-based options and insights. 
  • Translate complex information into clear, accessible advice for diverse audiences. 
  • Manage discrete projects, including documentation, contracts, reporting and briefings. 
  • Prepare timely, high-quality briefing materials to support senior executive and Ministerial decision making.

To be successful you’ll be: 

  • Proactive and motivated: A self-starter who can take initiative, think ahead and able to contribute to, lead or manage projects.  
  • Strong communicator: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex information into plain English for executive and Ministerial audiences. 
  • Flexible and adaptable: Open to pivot and change as needed, comfortable with ambiguity, and keen to explore new ideas and solutions.  
  • Curious: An understanding of the broader strategic context we operate in, a keen interest in keeping across global and national developments, and able to consider its impact for NSW.  
  • Familiar with Government processes: Understanding of regulations, legislation, policy and Cabinet processes is a plus.
