The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is dedicated to supporting thriving primary industries and driving economic development across regional NSW. Our Regional Programs and Partnerships team plays a key role in designing, delivering and evaluating investment programs that support sustainable and strategic growth across regional NSW. We are now seeking a motivated and skilled Evaluation Advisor to join our team.

 

About the Role

As an Evaluation Advisor, you will contribute to the design, coordination, and delivery of evaluation activities that measure the efficiency and impact of grant programs that are administered by Regional Programs & Partnerships teams. You will support the development of evaluation and monitoring plans, conduct primary and secondary research, undertake stakeholder consultation and analyse data and prepare reports to support the delivery of quality insights and program evaluations.  This role is ideal for someone who enjoys analytical work, stakeholder engagement, and influencing program improvement through evidence-based evaluation.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the development and implementation of program evaluation frameworks and plans.
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis to assess the effectiveness, outcomes and benefits of funded programs.
  • Develop and undertake surveys, stakeholder interviews and other data collection activities.
  • Support the development of evaluation frameworks, performance measures and data collection strategies and mechanisms.
  • Providing advice to program teams on evaluation approaches, insights, and best-practice methodologies.
  • Communicate meaningful insights, lessons learned and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Drafting high-quality reports, briefing notes and correspondence for senior executives and Ministers.
  • Monitoring and supporting evaluation activities to ensure they align with NSW Government frameworks and requirements.
  • Using evaluation tools, software and technology to analyse and synthesise evidence.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience conducting evaluations, research, or program analysis.
  • A practical understanding of evaluation in a public sector context
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • High-quality written communication skills, with experience preparing reports or briefings.
  • Ability to prioritise competing workloads and manage multiple tasks.
  • A commitment to integrity, accountability and customer service.
