About the Role
As a Special Project Officer (Information Management) with NSW Resources, you will play a key role in strengthening the quality, integrity and usability of critical geoscientific data that supports safe and sustainable exploration and mining across NSW. Working across a diverse portfolio of projects, you will contribute to the delivery of information management initiatives, combining project coordination with data validation, analysis and process improvement to ensure systems and datasets are reliable, consistent and fit for purpose.
You will collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders across the business to understand end to end processes and deliver practical solutions that enhance data management and system efficiency. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and meaningful projects, contribute to informed decision making and support the ongoing development of high-quality information systems that underpin the future of the resources sector in regional NSW.
About You
We are seeking a motivated and detail focused professional who is passionate about data quality, project delivery and continuous improvement, and who thrives in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
As our ideal candidate, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience working with relational databases, data entry and quality assurance, with a strong focus on accuracy and data integrity
- Knowledge of geoscience data systems and datasets, including geochemistry, drilling or analytical data, or the ability to quickly build this expertise
- Proven ability to support and manage projects, including planning, monitoring and delivering outcomes within agreed timeframes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to review processes and identify opportunities for improvement
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams and disciplines
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and contribute positively within a small team environment
- Knowledge of IT Project Management (Agile and Waterfall) approaches and tools desirable
- Knowledge of IT Service Delivery desirable
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Geology and/or equivalent work experience
- Compliance with pre-employment probity screening is mandatory and a condition of engagement
