About the role

The Senior Asset Management Advisor plays a key role in shaping how public assets are planned, managed and optimised across NSW. You will lead the delivery of asset management advisory projects that directly support client organisational objectives and deliver lasting community value.

This role is within the NSW Public Works (NSW PW) within the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) and sits in the Asset Management team. where the focus is on the delivery of Asset Management advisory services for local and state government clients throughout NSW that benefit communities.

The Asset Management team is at the leading edge of asset management delivery in NSW. We combine strong compliance-based practices with bespoke tools and contemporary approaches, tailored to the evolving needs of each client and asset portfolio.

This is a standout opportunity for an experienced Asset Management professional who wants variety, challenge and purpose.  You will work across a diverse mix of local and state government projects, helping clients lift their asset management maturity, strengthen asset knowledge and make better long-term decisions. This role is about turning insight into action and driving meaningful improvements across the government sector.

About you

You are an experienced asset management professional who enjoys working closely with clients, solving complex problems and delivering practical outcomes. You bring energy, credibility and a collaborative approach to every project.

In this role, you will contribute to the successful delivery of asset management plans and advisory projects by working closely with clients and key stakeholders. You will demonstrate:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in consultancy, private or NSW government organisations (state or local).
  • A strong track record of delivering complex projects on time, while maintaining high standards of quality, governance and compliance 
  • Strong experience in data management and analysing budgets and asset registers
  • Exceptional stakeholder and client management skills.
  • Proven expertise in preparing asset management plans, strategic asset management and operational plans aligned to state and/or local government guidelines.

To undertake this role successfully, you will require one or more of the following:

  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent in Strategic Asset Management or a closely related field
  • Expert knowledge in the preparation of asset management plans, strategic asset management plans and asset operational plans in accordance with state government guidelines and accepted best practice
  • Demonstrated strong experience in an infrastructure asset management consultancy or government environment
  • Knowledge of procurement, project and contract management is highly desirable as will having proven knowledge and experience in Quality Systems
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams, mentoring others and building capability.
