Diversity and inclusion are core DPIRD values. Everyone has the right to contribute and participate to their full potential. We are committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive culture that is respectful, welcoming and flexible – a workplace where our people feel supported, valued, and part of our collective success.

About the role

We are currently seeking a Senior Manager, Commercial and Program Governance, to join NSW Public Works (NSW PW) within the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD). The role collaborates closely with a decentralised network of local support teams and subject matter experts across the broader organisation.

In this role, you will be accountable for the full suite of core Finance responsibilities—owning accurate reporting, ensuring strong financial controls, and delivering reliable month‑end, forecasting and budgeting outcomes—while also helping Public Works build a smarter, faster commercial backbone.

About you

You will motivate a large team to deliver results, including simplifying processes, reducing manual effort, improving system integration and embedding automation so teams can focus more on insight and less on admin. You’ll work with management to lift project cost transparency and forecast control (EAC/ETC, margin visibility and cost‑to‑complete risk), and support the adoption of AI, predictive analytics and digital planning tools across Finance and Operations.

You are a critical thinker and pragmatic problem‑solver, able to navigate ambiguity, respond to change and bring clear, workable solutions when new challenges are presented to the business or within complex programs. Above all, you’ll be a visible influencer who improves decision quality through structured thinking, clear recommendations and energy that lands across the enterprise.

If you have the capability to achieve success in this role and are interested in creating a more prosperous NSW, we would love to hear from you!

About Us

Every day we help shape the ambitious projects that bring progress to more people in NSW. From forging a more sustainable relationship with the land around us, to engineering the big ideas of the future. In every challenge we see the chance to build stronger and more connected communities.
