  • Clerk grade 11/12 - Salary ranging from $149,739 to $173,174 per annum (FTE) plus super and leave loading

About the Role

As the Leader Farming Systems, you’ll be based in either Tamworth or Narrabri, leading innovative research across the grains and cotton regions of northern NSW

In this role you will lead and manage a team of scientists and projects, while building and maintaining strong relationships with key partners.  You’ll also identify opportunities and secure funding for new initiatives.

Your work will directly support the region's agricultural industry - ensuring research is impactful, aligned with strategic priorities, and delivered to the highest standards of safety and quality.

You will lead a team comprising 8 direct reports and 9 indirect reports, including temporary and casual staff, as well as visiting students and scientists.

About You

To be successful in this role you must hold (essential requirement)

  • A Degree or post graduate qualifications in agriculture or science-based disciplines

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • A strong understanding of northern cropping system challenges and opportunities for R&D
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a high-performing research team
  • Extensive experience leading complex research and development programs and portfolios, from inception to completion, on time and within budget
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders and partners
  • Expertise in identifying and securing new research and development funding and opportunities
  • Ability and willingness to travel for work purposes.
