This role offers flexible, people-first working conditions
- 35‑hour base working week
- Flexible start and finish times between 6am and 10pm, with core hours of 10am–3pm

About the role
NSW Public Works (NSW PW) is part of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and supports many different local and state government agencies to deliver critical infrastructure initiatives by providing expert advisory, planning, design, delivery and support services.
We are currently seeking a Spatial Officer to join our Spatial Team working under the Senior Manager Spatial and other senior team members. You will be responsible for the production of various spatial products using 2D and 3D geographical Information Systems (GIS) to support the delivery of major government infrastructure projects.
The role is responsible for maintaining current spatial information systems and database as part of client project delivery while also assisting the development of GIS data standards used across NSW Public Works.
You will play a role in delivering a range of outcomes concurrently while meeting client expectations and time, quality and budget parameters.
About Public Works Spatial Team
The Public Works (PW) Spatial team sits within the Surveying Group and is responsible for providing spatial data services for internal PW projects and external government clients. We play a pivotal role in project planning and delivery with mapping, analysis, application development and management of 2D/3D data for our clients throughout NSW.
About you
To be considered for this role you will need
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in geographic information systems or other relevant qualifications
- Sound experience and knowledge in a variety of spatial/CAD software applications eg ESRI ArcGIS products, Bentley and Autodesk product suites.
- Demonstrated experience with building ARCGIS Online/Enterprise Web Applications, dashboards, Field applications, Survey123.
- Demonstrated experience in the management of dynamic spatial databases including geographic and attribute data.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team across numerous disciplines
- Excellent written, interpersonal, and communication skills to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment.
- Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel to remote locations to undertake spatial projects, which may include overnight stays.
