About the Role

The Director Talent and Capability leads the design and delivery of integrated talent, capability and inclusion initiatives across the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD), building a diverse, future-ready workforce aligned to organisational priorities. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the role partners with executives to shape workforce capability and performance, overseeing talent acquisition, leadership development, learning frameworks and inclusion strategies. It ensures high-quality, compliant recruitment, and influences senior leaders to align people strategies with organisational direction, strengthening capability, inclusion and long-term sustainability.

About You

You are a strategic leader with expertise across talent acquisition, capability development, leadership and inclusion, and a proven ability to deliver enterprise-wide people strategies that support workforce transformation. You bring strong judgement, using data and insights to influence executive decision‑making while balancing strategic priorities with operational delivery and compliance requirements.

You build trusted relationships across NSW Government sectors, central agencies and external providers, enabling collaboration and alignment of workforce strategies. You also lead high‑performing teams, fostering capability, partnership and continuous improvement.
