We are seeking a Communications Project Officer to join the Research Development Office (RDO) team within Agriculture & Biosecurity.
The R&D Office plays a central role in supporting research across the department, driving innovation and supporting industry development. We work closely with researchers and actively collaborate with universities, research institutions, and industry partners to coordinate expertise, share resources, and increase investment and impact.

This means creating integrated networks that promote knowledge sharing, co-investment, and innovation on a wider scale.
About the Role
The Communications Project Officer develops and delivers engaging communications, digital content and communication resources that promote Research Assurance, and the impact of research across DPIRD. The role supports internal engagement through storytelling, digital channels, stakeholder communications and communication products that increase awareness, understanding and adoption of key initiatives.
Key duties include:
- Developing, writing and publishing engaging content across multiple channels, including articles, newsletters, SharePoint pages, factsheets, presentations and communication resources.
- Working with researchers, project teams and business areas to identify, develop and promote stories that showcase research outcomes, innovation, collaboration and impact across DPIRD.
- Creating, managing and maintaining digital content, ensuring information is current, accessible, audience-focused and aligned with departmental communication standards.
- Providing communications support and advice to project teams and stakeholders, helping translate complex information into clear, concise and engaging content for a range of audiences.
- Supporting the development of communication plans, templates, toolkits and educational resources that strengthen awareness, capability and adoption of initiatives.
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to identify communication opportunities and ensure consistent messaging across the organisation.
About You
To be successful, you must hold:
- Experience in Communications, Digital Media, Content Creation or a related field would be highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering communications across a range of channels, including intranet and web content, newsletters, articles, presentations and digital communications.
- Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise and engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Experience developing content that promotes programs, research, innovation or initiatives through compelling stories and communication campaigns.
- Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders, gathering information and working collaboratively to deliver communication outcomes.
- Experience managing and maintaining digital content, with an understanding of accessibility, usability and audience-focused communication principles.
- Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
