About the role

NSW Public Works (NSW PW) is part of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and supports local and state government agencies to deliver critical infrastructure initiatives by providing expert advisory, planning, design, delivery and support services.

We’re seeking an experienced Project/Construction Manager to deliver a diverse portfolio of building, and community infrastructure projects across the Illawarra and South Coast. 

You’ll lead a small team of construction project managers on projects end-to-end—managing scope, programme, risk, and commercial performance—while acting as a trusted advisor to clients. The role also involves leading procurement and contracts; and supporting a high-performing team environment.

About You

We’re looking for someone with a proven ability to deliver capital construction projects in environments where clear communication, good judgement and strong stakeholder engagement are essential.

You will bring:

• A background in construction management, engineering, architecture, or major infrastructure project management
• Experience managing multiple projects with defined time, cost and quality outcomes across all stages of a project’s lifecycle
• Demonstrated experience of design management, contract administration, procurement, and delivery risk management
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse client groups and community stakeholders
• A commitment to professional integrity, teamwork, and strong work ethic
• Relevant tertiary qualifications (architecture/engineering/ construction/project management)
• Demonstrated experience in building construction, civil or similar infrastructure
• A valid NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the region (including occasional overnight stays)
