About the Role
The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level server infrastructure across both on-premises and cloud environments within the Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst (CEDB).
The Systems Engineer will lead key server upgrade, migration, and consolidation projects that enhance the performance, security, and reliability of CEDB’s ICT environment. You’ll work alongside a supportive ICT team while collaborating with school and central office staff to implement practical, scalable solutions.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Gathering requirements and designing infrastructure using cloud and on-premises technologies.
- Leading server migrations, upgrades, and decommissioning projects.
- Building and configuring server environments, including template creation.
- Performing real-time troubleshooting and post-implementation testing.
- Developing and maintaining clear technical documentation.
- Supporting the implementation of infrastructure maintenance protocols.
- Ensuring adherence to security and performance best practices.

About You (Selection Criteria)
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- At least 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer in a Windows Server environment
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server technologies and modern cloud-based solutions.
- Demonstrated experience with large-scale server migrations, including cloud transitions.
- Proficiency in using discovery, migration, and optimisation tools.
- Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage dynamic project environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Awareness of and adherence to IT security and best practice protocols.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator).
- Ability to be able to work out of our Bathurst office.
- A willingness to support the mission and purpose of Catholic education within the Bathurst Diocese.
