Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst (CEDB) is seeking a skilled and collaborative Education Officer: School Improvement and Data to provide system-level leadership and operational expertise in the collection, analysis and use of educational data across the Diocese.

This role is ideal for an experienced educator or school improvement professional who can confidently analyse complex data, support evidence-informed decision-making, and work closely with schools and system leaders to strengthen student learning, wellbeing and improvement outcomes.

About the role
Reporting to the Head of School Improvement, Governance, Data and Policy, the Education Officer: School Improvement and Data provides leadership and practical support in the use of educational data to inform strategic planning, improvement processes and system-wide decision-making.

The role has a strong focus on ensuring that high-quality, timely and meaningful data is available to schools and system leaders. This includes supporting data systems, producing reports and dashboards, identifying trends and insights, and building the capacity of school leaders to use data effectively.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide accurate and timely data analysis to support school and system improvement planning.
  • Support schools and leaders to access, interpret and apply educational data.
  • Prepare clear reports, dashboards and insights to inform planning, monitoring and review.
  • Coordinate the collection, validation and maintenance of key educational data sets, including student achievement, attendance, wellbeing, enrolments, demographics, NAPLAN, HSC, census data and CEDB standardised assessments.
  • Identify trends, patterns and areas for improvement across school and system data.
  • Support improvement, review and accountability processes through data preparation and analysis.
  • Maintain databases, dashboards and reporting structures to ensure data is accurate, consistent and usable.
  • Work collaboratively with principals, school leadership teams, CEDB staff and external partners in relation to data access, reporting and use.
  • Support data literacy and evidence-informed practice through guidance, resources and professional learning.
  • Contribute to a consistent and ethical approach to data use across the Diocese.

About you (Selection Criteria)

We are looking for a motivated and capable education professional who can align with the following:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to the values and ethos of Catholic education.
  • Holds a relevant tertiary qualification in Education or a related field.
  • Has demonstrated experience in analysing educational data to inform improvement and change.
  • Has strong IT and data analysis skills, including experience with educational data systems and reporting tools.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates well-developed organisational, analytical and administrative skills.
  • Can build effective working relationships with principals, school leaders, system staff and external stakeholders.
  • Has a solutions-focused, service-oriented and stakeholder-centred approach.
  • Demonstrates personal integrity, professionalism and a strong work ethic.
  • Can manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Holds a current Working With Children Check.
  • Is willing to undergo a Criminal History Check as part of CEDB’s employment screening process
  • Holds a current driver’s licence and has the capacity to travel as required.

Appointment at Education Officer level will require demonstrated evidence of system leadership, strategic influence and advanced expertise in educational data and school improvement.
