DHA was established in 1988 following passage of the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987 (DHA Act) to provide adequate and suitable housing for, and housing related services to, members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families. We remain committed to our purpose of providing housing, and housing related services, to ADF members and their families to support Defence’s operational needs.
DHA manages an expanding portfolio of housing solutions and provides housing for over 17,200 ADF members and their families and administers rent allowance for more than 16,000 ADF members and their families in private rental accommodation. DHA provides housing related services advising on eligibility, providing posting support, and managing bookings and allocation services for all DHA provisioned housing and on-base accommodation to approximately 60,000 ADF members.

About your team
The Provisioning Group is responsible for bringing quality properties into the portfolio to meet Defence requirements through leasing and acquisitions.
The Leasing and Acquisitions Team is responsible for the sourcing and delivery of new properties to the portfolio via lease or acquisition, as well as management of all lease agreements including extensions, new contracts and end of lease processes across the national portfolio of properties.
About the role
In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of the annual leasing and acquisition programs in accordance with the approved provisioning plan across multiple regions to achieve national objectives. You will be responsible for identifying and facilitating the leasing or acquisition of housing that meets required standards for Defence members and their families. You will achieve this with emphasis on business development opportunities to deliver bulk properties through industry integration and using a network of sources to provide positive outcomes for DHA.
The role will be responsible for a range of activities supporting team achievements and achieving targeted outcomes across multiple geographic regions, identifying and converting new business leads with emphasis on achieving bulk property transactions to add to DHA’s portfolio via direct negotiation with stakeholders and integration across industry.
Required Skills:
- In-depth property experience within the residential property industry and a proven ability to deliver business outcomes.
- Exceptional oral, written and negotiation communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with both internal and external staff and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in leasing, sales, and/or business development
- Advanced organisational, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills together with sound judgement and attention to detail.
- Strong budget management experience, including managing asset-based decisions in the context of commercial outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative, show initiative and provide sound business solutions to identified issues
