About us

DHA was established in 1988 following passage of the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987 (DHA Act) to provide adequate and suitable housing for, and housing related services to, members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families. We remain committed to our purpose of providing housing, and housing related services, to ADF members and their families to support Defence’s operational needs.  

DHA manages an expanding portfolio of housing solutions and provides housing for over 17,200 ADF members and their families and administers rent allowance for more than 16,000 ADF members and their families in private rental accommodation. DHA provides housing related services advising on eligibility, providing posting support, and managing bookings and allocation services for all DHA provisioned housing and on-base accommodation to approximately 60,000 ADF members.

About your team

Business Solutions and Technology (BS&T) are responsible for all software related business analysis, business solutions, software development, telephony, IT services, infrastructure and cyber security. We deliver business as usual activities and innovation driven initiatives that provide efficiencies to the broader organisation.

About the role

The Director, Application Development and Integration provides technical leadership and strategic direction to the Software Engineering, Testing, and Integration and Salesforce Solutions teams. Working with technologies including Java, .NET, Jira, Salesforce, MuleSoft, Azure DevOps, Oracle BI and Tableau, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the technical development environment roadmap is fit for purpose in the context of DHA’s strategic priorities. The Director will contribute technical expertise as part of the Architecture Board, the Technology Prioritisation Committee and lead decisions with respect to the implementation and sustainment of new technologies and sustainment of legacy systems.  In addition, you will hold responsibility for ensuring continuity of appropriate technical skills across the team through the Technology Group’s strategic workforce plan in the context of both the current and future programs. 

We are seeking an exceptionally optimistic candidate with outstanding interpersonal skills who can maintain high team morale and is willing to make decisions while accepting the possibility of failure. A technical background is beneficial for understanding the technical challenges and various solutions that exist to make informed and pragmatic decisions.
