About us

DHA was established in 1988 following passage of the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987 (DHA Act) to provide adequate and suitable housing for, and housing related services to, members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families. We remain committed to our purpose of providing housing, and housing related services, to ADF members and their families to support Defence’s operational needs.  

DHA manages an expanding portfolio of housing solutions and provides housing for over 17,200 ADF members and their families and administers rent allowance for more than 16,000 ADF members and their families in private rental accommodation. DHA provides housing related services advising on eligibility, providing posting support, and managing bookings and allocation services for all DHA provisioned housing and on-base accommodation to approximately 60,000 ADF members.

About your team

The Human Resources (HR) function sits within the Enabling Services Group and provides strategic and operational people services to support Defence Housing Australia’s organisational objectives. HR works in partnership with business areas to build organisational capability, support workforce sustainability, and enable high performance across DHA.

HR is responsible for delivering end‑to‑end people services, including workforce planning, recruitment and onboarding, learning and development, performance management, employee relations, remuneration and conditions, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and work health and safety. The function also provides advice on industrial and employment frameworks, including the DHA Enterprise Agreement and relevant legislation, ensuring compliance and sound governance.

The HR team play a key role in supporting organisational change, leadership capability, and a positive workplace culture, providing contemporary, customer‑focused HR solutions that are aligned with DHA’s strategic priorities and values.

About the role

The Senior HR Advisor (Reporting & Data) is a key role within the HR team and is responsible for delivering high-quality workforce reporting, data analysis and insights to support evidence-based decision-making across DHA.

The role leads the development, assurance and interpretation of workforce data and reporting, supporting governance, compliance, and strategic workforce planning.

While the role works closely with payroll function and leverages payroll data, it is not primarily responsible for payroll processing or delivery.

Order of Merit

A merit pool will be established from this process which will be valid for 18 months from the date of advertising. This merit pool may be used throughout this period to fill similar positions in the event positions become vacant.

The current role is based in Canberra. In future, the role may be performed from an office location where DHA has a HR Footprint, such as in Adelaide and Brisbane.
