Are you a focused-on project excellence with a passion for engineering geology? Join Sunwater as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer where you’ll play a vital role in the supporting the delivery state-of-the-art engineering design, planning and inspection services for bulk water related projects, that are high quality, economically viable, safe and serviceable. You will provide expert advice on the planning of new infrastructure focusing on feasibility studies and preliminary design to clients, both internal and external, within a commercial environment as part of or leading a project team – including technical queries, design changes, design reviews and the assessment of design impacts and dam safety risks.
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Sunwater, you will:
- Review and maintain Geotechnical Engineering standards and ensure they are consistently applied across designs.
- Partner with stakeholders across Sunwater to increase understanding and knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering and Sunwater’s dams and infrastructure.
- Lead cross-function collaboration to ensure design outcomes meet Sunwater’s engineering standards, safety in design, operations and maintenance, dam safety and other stakeholder requirements.
We are seeking a talented individual with a proven track record in the analysis and specialist interpretation of geotechnical data using graphical and mathematical techniques. You will hold tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering, preferably hold RPEQ and have experience relating to the refurbishment and enhancement of bulk water infrastructure n government or consulting to government. You will also bring:
- Full life cycle expertise: Experience in delivering safe engineering design, planning and inspection services for the delivery of dam safety upgrade projects, bulk water and irrigation system asset refurbishment and enhancement projects and other augmented or new bulk water infrastructure projects
- Strategic vision: Provide high quality advice and guidance on the civil engineering laboratory testing required to address project specific civil engineering design and construction requirements, including soil foundation and permeability properties.
- Communication skills: Excellent communication skills with a knack for writing and presenting quality reports and findings to senior leadership, including the Board and executive leadership team
