Internship Position: Annual Reporting Intern – Active Management Areas, Conservation Programs
Position Overview: The Arizona Department of Water Resources invites enthusiastic candidates to apply for the Annual Reporting Internship. This unique role offers a chance to engage deeply with the department's modernized reporting systems, focusing on groundwater use and compliance monitoring. Interns will experience firsthand the evolving dynamics of water use reporting, supporting ADWR’s initiatives to transition towards an efficient, digital reporting paradigm.
Location Requirements: Given the nature of the work, specifically the management of physical files, the successful candidate must work on-site at the ADWR office. This in-person experience is also beneficial for interns, allowing them to regularly interact with and learn from seasoned staff members.
Schedule: Hours may vary up to 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:
Interactive Reporting:
- Assist with hard copy reporting during ADWR’s reporting season.
- Support in sending reminder letters to right holders about their annual reporting requirements.
- Encourage and guide water users to utilize the online reporting platforms, especially ADWR’s Online Annual Reporting Tool
Data Management & Public Records:
- Help in enhancing the availability of public records on the ADWR website.
- Assist with well queries, pumpage queries, imaged records, and the utilization of interactive mapping tools.
- Support ADWR’s initiative to expand the scope of the annual reporting tool by adding more water rights and authorities.
Community Engagement and User Support:
- Engage with water users to provide them with access to their own information on the ADWR platform.
- Aid in educating users on how they can leverage ADWR tools and information to better manage their water portfolio and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Address queries from the public, helping them navigate the resources available on ADWR’s digital platform.
Candidates must be enrolled in school and pursing a degree in Environmental Sciences, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Sustainability, or a similar field, or related field.
