Job Summary:

• Responsible to serve as the lead, across the agency, on building strong systems to ensure that all data is being shown, interpreted, and used appropriately by all external stakeholders.
• Lead on the School Report Cards website and ensuring that updates to this mandatory website are done consistently and in compliance with State and Federal requirements.
• Responsible for the updating of the Data Governance website.
• Oversee all publicly available datasets across the agency to ensure that data is being sent externally and used externally only when allowable by law, including FERPA.
• Responsible for development of any Arizona Department of Education (ADE) data portals, as well as management and oversight of all Data Sharing Agreements.
• Assist program areas with creating new reports, and identify opportunities to streamline and consolidate the agency’s many existing data reports.
• Communicating data/information through web-based reporting, monthly mass communication, graphic visualization, synchronous/asynchronous webinars, etc. This involves collaboration with research scientists, program specialists, data analysts, application developers, business analysts, and external advisors to understand their data needs and drive in order to deliver the most efficient and effective customer service possible to external stakeholders.
• Occasional in-state and out-of-state travel may be required for this position.

The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.

Job Duties:

• Work with ADE staff and key stakeholders to develop reporting search capabilities for agency files and reports. This includes management of the School Report Cards website, as well as all other external facing reports and data.
• Facilitating collection of valid and reliable data through data literacy training and technical assistance
• Execute and maintain data strategies for the agency.
• Build and maintain the data catalog.
• Ensure that data is being use consistently and appropriately, and provide training resources for staff when it is evident that additional learning and coaching is needed.
• Communication & training of ADE staff on data management, and ensuring the data is accessible and usable.
• Facilitate external stakeholder activities by supplying data for research and public data requests.
• Work with Information Technology to establish retention standards for electronic information.
• Ensure when data sharing agreements are complete, data destruction is destroyed with external partners.
• Communicate highly complex and technical information concerning ADE data and data strategies to IT and to various audiences using multiple media including formal presentations.
• Participate and lead ADE work teams to assess and resolve data quality issues.
• Oversight & management of ADE data sharing processes; this might include multiple data committees internal and external.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:
• Data Analysis
• Project Management or documentation and reporting on projects
• Knowledge of SPSS, SAS, SQL or other advanced statistical analysis software
• A Bachelor’s degree in information management, policy, education, a related field, or equivalent experience to substitute for the degree, is required

Retirement:
