This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the parts department, which includes maintaining accurate records of parts inventory, ordering and receiving parts for a wide variety of light/medium/heavy duty vehicle & equipment while doing so in accordance with State Procurement Laws as well as ADOT policies and procedures. This position must also ensure that the parts department meets the quality and safety standards of ADOT and the industry.

This position is eligible to participate in the ASE Stipend Pay Program, employees can earn up to $8,400 a year with qualifying certifications. We reimburse 100% of the cost for passed tests and offer training assistance!
Uniforms provided to shop employees at no charge and are eligible to participate in the Safety-toe Shoe reimbursement program (100% of cost up to $250.00 every other calendar year)
Work Hours: Monday through Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm
Anticipated hiring salary is $52,635 annually, with a potential to earn up to $61,035 ASE Master Parts Professional status is obtained.
Supervise, plan, schedule, and direct the workflow of subordinates to help meet the maintenance missions of the Equipment Shop. Verify ordered and received parts/supplies are in compliance with Procurement Laws and Regulations ensuring proper buying practices and vendor compliance to contracts term/conditions.
Oversee purchasing, receiving, issuing, inventorying, and distribution (delivery) processes. Initiates the purchase and payment of parts and services to support the maintenance and repair of the State fleet.
Open/close and monitor maintenance work orders input into the Fleet Focus Management System and ensure accurate parts/supplies requests/cost data into the Fleet Focus Management System.
Operate a state vehicle for pick-up and delivery of parts/supplies as needed or as directed. Load/unload cargo on/off trucks. Operate vehicle/truck lift forklift vehicle, pallet jacks and drum lifts as required.

- Inputting parts/cost data into Fleet Focus.
- Obtain/Using EMS Reports and other data collection reports.
- Interpreting budget and performance reports.
- Identifying/implementing/enforcing safe work practices for parts/warehouse department employees.
Ability:
- Determine/maintain appropriate shop parts/supplies inventories based on past usage/projected needs.
- Review/audit work order requests, invoices, and other parts/supply related documents, and P-Card Program within the Parts Department.
- Monitor the parts department workflow and assign work to employees daily or as necessary.
- Establish/maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, customers and vendors.
- Operate a variety of department warehouse equipment, vehicles and forklift.
- Properly Load/unload and secure cargo for vehicle transport.
- Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs and pass a physical exam.
- Ability to coach and develop employees, including continuous improvement practices and principles.
Five years of experience in the automotive, light, medium, heavy duty, construction vehicle/equipment parts industry and three years supervisory experience in managing an Automotive and/or Heavy-Duty Parts Department.
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Parts Certification is highly preferred.

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
