This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures, with the requirement to periodically attend in-person meetings or travel as needed

Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Administration's Risk Management Division is seeking an Intermediate Claims Adjuster to manage a diverse portfolio of claims. You will be responsible for the full life cycle of claims, ranging from minor incidents to complex cases involving significant financial exposure. Your expertise will span auto accidents, property damage, personal injury, liability claims, and more. This role requires a combination of analytical skills, independent judgment, and effective communication. Job Duties:
  • Investigate coverage, liability, and damage exposure, potentially including site visits and statewide travel
  • Collaborate with agency representatives, legal counsel, and other stakeholders
  • Manage claim files meticulously, ensuring proper documentation, coding, and adherence to regulations
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, including settlement authorizations and trial recommendations
  • Participate in interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and other legal proceedings as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Basic knowledge of Arizona Revised Statutes, Arizona Administrative Code, and Executive Orders
  • Basic knowledge of State and Federal court procedures, precedents, case law, and contract law
  • Claims best practices guidelines
  • Insurance claims processing
  • Negotiations and alternate dispute resolution (ADR)
  • Types of insurance contracts and related law
  • Administrative policies, practices, and procedures
  • Occupational, safety, and health regulations
  • Insurance and/or risk management information systems

Skills in:

  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Excellent research, investigative, and analytical skills
  • Effective communication both orally and in writing

Ability to:

  • Handle confidential information with tact and discretion
  • Manage varied responsibilities with accuracy and speed under pressure

  • Learn, understand, and apply Arizona Revised Statutes and Arizona Administrative Code  

Selective Preference(s):
  • Proficiency in Google Suite
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years of related professional experience
