Job Summary:

As the Intentional Programming and Volunteer Coordinator, you will be essential in orchestrating life skills, restorative justice and social development programs and managing volunteers within the facility. In this pivotal role, you'll drive the successful delivery of programs and management of volunteers, significantly impacting the facility’s operations and the youth experience. By ensuring effective scheduling, training, and public relations, you'll help foster a positive and well-organized environment, aligning with the agency's mission and enhancing community engagement.

Job Duties:

-Program and Volunteer Scheduling: Develop and maintain a comprehensive schedule for on-site programs
and volunteer activities, ensuring optimal timing and resource allocation.
-Coordination: Oversee the logistical aspects of program implementation, including space management, equipment needs, and adherence to facility protocols
-Volunteer Management, Recruitment and Onboarding: Recruit new volunteers, conduct orientation, and
provide initial training to ensure they understand their roles and the facility’s policies.
-Ongoing Training: Facilitate continuous training for new and existing volunteers to enhance their
effectiveness and engagement.
-Liaison Role: Act as the primary point of contact for volunteers, addressing their inquiries, providing support,
and ensuring smooth integration into the facility’s programs
-Public Relations and Outreach Representation: Represent the agency in building and maintaining positive
relationships with community partners, and stakeholders.
-Cold Calls: Conduct outreach through cold calls to potential partners, sponsors, and volunteers, promoting
the facility’s programs and recruiting support
-Operational Oversight/Policy Adherence: Ensure that all programs and volunteer activities are conducted in
compliance with agency policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
-Clearance Liaison: Maintain an up-to-date master roster of all approved volunteer and program staff. Ensure
all relevant documentation, such as background checks, training records, and certifications, is accurately
recorded and easily accessible for approval and verification process.
-Documentation: Maintain accurate records of program schedules, volunteer hours, and any incidents or feedback related to program and volunteer activities
-Activity Coordination/ Program Development: Work with program developers to design and implement
engaging activities that meet the needs of the youth.
-Monitoring: Supervise and evaluate the execution of programs to ensure they are delivered effectively and safely
-Feedback and Improvement Evaluation: Regularly assess the effectiveness of programs and volunteer
contributions. Collect feedback from youth, staff, and volunteers to identify areas for improvement.
-Reporting: Prepare and present reports on program outcomes, volunteer engagement, and any significant
developments to facility management

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
Program and Volunteer Management: Understanding of best practices in scheduling, program coordination
and volunteer management. Public Relations: Knowledge of strategies for effective public relations and
outreach.
Facility Policies: Familiarity with the facility's policies and procedures related to programming and volunteer
involvement
Skill in:
Organizational Skills: Excellent ability to manage schedules, coordinate activities, and handle logistical
details.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with volunteers, staff,
and external stakeholders.
Training and Development: Skills in designing and delivering training programs for new volunteers and
staff.

Ability to:
Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate volunteers, fostering a positive and productive environment.
Adaptability: Capability to adjust plans and schedules as needed to address changing needs or unexpected
challenges.
Relationship Building: Skill in building and maintaining relationships with community partners and
stakeholders.

Selective Preference(s):

Bachelor's Degree in Social Science or Criminal Justice Field. (2) years of experience in assisting in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs for a juvenile secure care facility. Two (2) years of experience working with community volunteer programs OR 3 years of working in a secure care facility would substitute.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function on the job, then the following
requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a
current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all
necessary driver’s license records checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked or
suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain
acceptable driving records, and must complete all driver training. An employee who operates a personally
owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona
Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.010).
