Job Summary:

As the Senior Economist for Business & Finance, you will collaborate closely with the Business and Finance team as well as the senior leaders and subject matter experts to establish economic reports and processes to interpret and predict economic conditions and advise on business implications. This position plays a leading role in the development and implementation of analysis processes for financial impacts or existing and proposed legislative and policy documentation. This position also assists the Business & Finance team in development of goals and long-term strategies; development of policies and procedures; ensuring the teams operations meet established policies and objectives; and provides training, guidance and development for the applicable Agency staff. This position will be predominately virtual with time in office dependent upon Agency needs.

This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

Job Duties:

• Determine economic impacts for existing and proposed changes to State and Federal law.
• Engagement with senior leadership and subject matter experts to advise on economic impacts.
• Evaluate and report on economic benefit of environmental policies, rules and law.
• Establish tools and practices for evaluating economic impact for use by program staff.
• Assess and report on existing fee models with proposals for changes to sustain Agency fund health.
• Collaborate closely with internal Business and Finance teams on financial modeling and forecasting.
• Develops and presents financial reports and presentations to all levels of agency management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

• Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of economic impact evaluation, preferably for state or federal government.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
• Must have considerable knowledge of the systems, methods and techniques of projecting financial impacts with writing and communication skills to clearly communicate those impacts.
• Significant skills in analysis, interpretation, communication, writing and presentation of financial data.
• Skills; Must be well organized and have a detail oriented, high accuracy approach with strong time management skills.
• Knowledge of government financial and budgeting practices and familiarity with State financial systems is preferred.
• Proficient skills in the use of computer applications such as Google Suite and MS Office.
• Experience with process documentation, problem solving and data analysis based upon lean principles.

Selective Preference(s):

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics or closely related field with 4 years’ experience or years’ experience with a Masters Degree in a closely related field
