Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for the enforcement of Watercraft (WC), Game and Fish and Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) statutes and rules that are outlined in Titles 5, 17 and 28. This position will also serve as the primary staff support position for the OHV Law Enforcement Program Coordinator and will assist the regions in patrol and outreach efforts; assist with OHV outreach efforts and training and maintain FOLE equipment. Will also assist in background investigations and recruiting/hiring/training processes as needed.

Job Duties:

-Facilitate and support the Department's watercraft registration process.
-Serve as the Department's area knowledge expert in all matters relating to watercraft registrations, frauds, abandoned watercraft claim process, theft issues and hull identification.
-Perform on-site watercraft inspections of both vessels and associated documents related to watercraft identity, ownership, possession, registration and titling of watercraft as provided under Title 5.
-Plan, develop, coordinate and participate in various watercraft related law enforcement investigations.
-Conducts OHV and W/C law enforcement patrols as needed.
-Provide public safety presence and assistance; perform outreach at public OHV/WC events including presentations and booths.
-Provide organization skills to all investigative files, training lesson plans and reports associated with the position.
-Identify training needs related to OHV/WC incident investigation.
-Plan and coordinate the WEPOC and OHV school.
-Provide logistical and staff support for various Law Enforcement Branch activities and programs.
-Provide support for various Information and Education opportunities.
-Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

The candidate will have knowledge of law enforcement tactics; Game and Fish/Commission rules/policies and procedures; state and federal laws and procedures; staff work; public communication; personnel rules and practices; equipment including vehicles, boats, camp trailers, cameras, video equipment, camping equipment, tape recorders, training and visual-aid equipment, office machines, computers (hardware and software), communication equipment and weapons; federal, state and civil laws pertaining to the watercraft and vehicles. The candidate will be skilled in operating watercraft and Off-Highway Vehicle; law enforcement investigations; interpreting data; directing and conducting law enforcement patrol efforts and special projects; communication; time management and conflict resolutions. The candidate will have the ability to work in remote areas and waterways without supervision; maintain AZ POST certification; coordinate with other agencies; conduct OHV/WC outreach and training; prioritizes workload; maintains equipment; and meets deadlines.

Selective Preference(s):

The preferred candidate will have experience in watercraft/automobile registration processes and investigations; theft investigations; wildlife biology, management, and identification; OHV training, operation and instructor certification. Will also have knowledge of dust ordinances and OHV decal processes/requirements.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Applicants must have Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) certification.
Employment is also contingent upon completion of a post-offer medical/physical examination and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked or suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
