The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking for an experienced and dependable professional to fill the role of Physical Plant Supervisor I. This crucial position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing our Central Office facilities, overseeing inmate work crews, and ensuring the smooth operation of our maintenance and construction projects.
- Performs and oversees minor to difficult tasks in maintenance repair and replacement activities involving electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, painting, masonry, heating, and cooling
- Performs basic preventative maintenance, arranges for periodic services and repairs
- Directs and controls the activities of inmates
- Trains inmates on procedures and work processes
- Transports inmates to/from various work sites
- Maintains and executes the key control policy for Central Office by issuing keys and maintaining key logs
- Coordinates work requests with staff, vendors, and peers
- Performs tool, equipment, and materials inventory
- Attends meetings, produces management information and project reports, and drafts letters/memos
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge of:
- Principles and techniques of supervision, counseling, employee relations, and work scheduling
- Common and specialized tools, equipment and materials related to work
- Methods and practices involved in replacing, installing and repairing locks and security systems
- Reading blueprints, sketches and structural components of buildings and related utility services systems
- Safety practices and National and local building codes
- Methods and practices of preventative maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction
- Estimating, costing and ordering materials
Skill in:
- Principles and techniques of supervision, counseling, employee relations and work scheduling

- Replacing, installing, and repairing locks and security systems

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
