Job Summary:

Our ideal candidate for the Economic Analyst will support team efforts to provide high quality labor market and workforce data to clients such as our ARIZONA@WORK partners.

The Economist II performs extensive analysis using various data sources (national, state, and local data). The Economist II is responsible for preparing accurate and informative economic analysis on a monthly basis to meet aggressive deadlines. You will maintain direct lines of communication with economic development, workforce, and educational institution partners to meet their labor market information needs.

You will work closely with partners such as the WIOA local workforce development boards to ensure that projects such as the annual economics conditions reports are written and training on In-Demand Industries and Occupations are provided.

Along with the primary responsibilities listed above, the economic analyst will provide support for team-wide initiatives. These will include, but are not limited to assisting with the preparation of workforce deliverables, monthly and annual data releases and training and communication projects.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

• Leads team efforts to improve the functionality of the OEO website by creating training tutorials and user guides, among other tasks

• Prepares labor market information products. Leads efforts to analyze and publish monthly and annual employment reports

• Updates data tools on OEO and ARIZONA@WORK website as needed on weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis

• Reviews five-year agency reviews and proposed agency rule revisions. Prepares monthly GRRC economic memos

• Provides outreach and support to workforce, education, economic development and industry partners

• Assists OEO Labor Systems and Workforce teams with project deliverables as needed

• Updates and maintains internal data to support forecasting economist deliverables

• Identify internal data management needs for of the Economic Analysis Team

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:

• Preference for candidates with familiarity with the ARIZONA@WORK system including state and local WIOA deliverables, state and local workforce partners, WIOA policy and data availability

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, statistics or a related field, and one year experience performing economic or related work

• Familiarity with principles of economics, including forecasting, modeling, conducting impact analysis

• Preference for candidates with knowledge of publicly-available labor market information resources

Skills:

• Experience with training and presenting technical information is preferred

• Excellent data visualization, data and data analysis skills

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Strong research capabilities

Abilities:

• Ability to work well with others, ability to explain complicated material to audiences of all backgrounds, ability to keep organized and self motivate

Selective Preference(s):

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics or a related field and four years experience doing economic research work; OR a Master's degree in economics or a related field and two years experience in economic work
