Your responsibilities will include preventative maintenance, plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, kitchen equipment repairs, and utility service systems. - Schedules and plans maintenance-related projects to include pricing, material lists, equipment and needs
- Performs maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks as required and scheduled
- Completes related documentation as required by policy and as directed by supervisor
- Basic knowledge of office equipment to include computers, internet research, and completion of documents
- Inspects and maintains tools and equipment to ensure proper working order and all are accounted for
- Supervises and evaluates inmate workers’ performance
- Attends staff meetings and training as required
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
Knowledge of:
- Structural issues regarding building and utility service systems to include blueprints and safety practices, and codes
- All trades (i.e., electronic, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general facility maintenance and preventive maintenance, etc.)
- Budgetary issues, including estimating costs and ordering of materials
- Common and specialized tools for performing duties
- OSHA guidelines and the national and local building codes/regulations
Skill in:
- Basic reading of blueprints and schematics, general construction, mechanical devices, electrical, preventative maintenance
- Using and demonstrating use of common and specialized tools
- Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to:
- Lift/Carry 50lbs
- Push/Pull 50lbs
- Walk/Run .25 miles
- Work in a prison environment and supervise inmate work crews
- Technical training from specialized trade schools and/or unions

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination.
In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
