The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) is searching for an energetic, outgoing, and self-motivated HR Recruiter who would be responsible for promoting and filling ADJC career opportunities; utilizing social media to seek out potential applicants; networking and building relationships with community and educational partners; implementing recruitment marketing strategies; utilizing the state’s enterprise recruitment system to compose and post job announcements; reviewing and screening applicant qualifications; preparing hiring lists; and making offers of employment.
The job duties of a HR Recruiter include, but are not limited to the following:
- Sources potential applicants by utilizing social media, the State’s Page-Up recruitment system, commercial job boards, and community/educational contacts
- Drafts and post job announcements for various positions to include: Youth Corrections Officers Series, Administrative, Security, Professional, Health, Trades, and Information Technology job classifications
- Reviews applicant resumes for applicable knowledge, skills, and abilities, and creates hiring lists of qualified candidates
- Ensures Position Descriptions (PDs) are up-to-date, and all salary requests conform to state guidelines
- Promotes ADJC career opportunities and benefits, at in-person/virtual career and job fairs, community events, educational career days, and military transition events
- Consults with agency customers to develop recruitment and marketing strategies for the hard-to-fill vacancies
- Tracks pre-employment process which includes fingerprinting, background investigations, drug tests, medical/physical examinations, employment verifications, file reviews, and reference checks
- Administers and proctors pre-employment assessments to include the Diana Screen, and the Promote IMPACT assessment
- Supports the Arizona Management System (AMS) by participating in team huddle board meetings, tracking and reporting recruitment metrics, and authoring/updating recruitment unit standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Prepares and processes position actions to include position description updates, position establishments, reallocations, and organizational changes
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

- Recruitment strategies and best practices to include drafting job announcements, job board postings, applicant sourcing, social media and vacancy tracking
- Computers and various technology devices and software programs essential for recruitment efforts such as video conferencing and Google Suite (Gmail, Docs Sheets, Slides)

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or closely related field and two (2) years experience in Human Resources OR; equivalent experience.

Current State of Arizona employees: In order to be considered for this position, it requires acceptable performance history as demonstrated by not have been issued a letter of suspension or have been involuntarily demoted within one year preceding this job posting close date, and have an overall rating of “meets expectations” or higher on the most recent employee performance evaluation.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function on the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license records checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked or suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.010).
