The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking an experienced correctional administrator to fill the Time Computation Administrator position. This position ensures the agency’s Time Computations policies, processes, and procedures are in compliance with laws, rules, regulations, and statutes. This position analyzes proposed legislation and prepares impact statements. Audits and trains time computation staff on policies and procedures. Coordinates and follow-ups on any issues or concerns related to sentencing matters. Provides clarification to the attorney general office, executive management, courts and judges, inmates and family members, and other outside agencies. Also, represents ADCRR concerning time computation matters with other governmental agencies.

Job Duties:

- Leads, directs, and guides subordinate staff regarding work assignments and Time Computation Unit activities
- Trains and mentors staff on procedures, new policies, directives, and legislation
- Advises executive management, division management, and staff on time computation matters
- Interprets applicable laws, statutes, rules and policies
- Suggests and develops solutions to complex time computation matters and assists in the implementation
- Analyzes and evaluates Unit activities to ensure goals and objectives are met
- Manages personnel issues in the Unit
- Conducts individual and quarterly meetings with Time Computation Unit (TCU) staff
- Attends meetings and represents the agency
- Composes policies, procedures, and technical manuals for Time Computation and ensure its implementation
- Conducts presentations to management, the legislature, and testifies in court
- Drives on State business
- Perform other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to Time Computation
- Principles and practices of effective government administration
- The Arizona Criminal Code and other related statutes, case law, and Attorney General Opinions
- Administrative and federal regulations relating to calculation of offender release dates, release of offender information
- Computers, The Arizona Correctional Information System (ACIS), and associated software with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- ADCRR and Board of Executive Clemency policies, procedures and other program operations which affects the Time Computation Unit

Selective Preference(s):

- Extensive knowledge of the correctional offender time computation process and procedures
- Extensive knowledge of State and Federal laws, criminal codes, and statutes
- At least five (5) years of experience in calculating, auditing, and managing correctional offender time computations

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
