The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Bachelor of Social Work Intern. DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high quality, and member driven. These services provide individuals with opportunities to exercise their rights and responsibilities of independent decision-making and engagement in the community.
Applicants for this position cannot be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation, cannot have a principal interest in or have a spouse or close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•The position will report directly to a Manager within the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and will offer a student work experience in their field of study. This experience will be valuable to a student as a means of allowing them to experience how their studies are applied in the “real world” by touching vulnerable citizens’ lives and making a difference.
•In consultation with the with Field Instructor, the Bachelor of Social Worker (BSW) Intern develops a learning contract that outlines the Core Competencies performance expectations, learning goals, methods of achievement, and standards of measurements in all the required areas. The BSW Intern meets on a weekly basis with the Field/Task Instructor to review field tasks and learn about the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) policies, protocols, and organization structure. The BSW Intern provides support to the Field DDD Support Coordination Unit and prepares for an entry-level generalist social work practice with the individuals, families, agencies, and communities.
Skills in:
•Using various computer systems (e.g., Google, Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, etc.)
•Oral and written communication, including being effective with both internal and
external customers.
•Research and analysis.
Ability to:
•Learn and understand how to interpret large quantities of written material.
•Learn to elicit accurate data from a variety of sources.
•Learn how to organize and manage case files.
•Learn how to document case files and information.
•Maintain confidentiality.
