The Sharlot Hall Museum is an open-air museum and heritage site located in Prescott, Arizona. Opened in 1928 by Sharlot M. Hall as the Gubernatorial Mansion Museum, the museum that now bears her name is dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the Central Highlands of Arizona. The Museum features eleven exhibit buildings (six of which are historic), compelling exhibits, and beautiful gardens, which serve as the setting for numerous public festivals and events.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the IT Director & Capital Projects Manager, the Physical Plant Supervisor will plan, manage and coordinate the full range of physical plant services for the four-acre museum campus comprised of 10 exhibit buildings, two support buildings, a research center, four commercial /residential rental buildings, and extensive ornamental and historic grounds and gardens.

Job Duties:

• Plans and directs, in coordination with supervisor, the operations and maintenance of the physical plant and equipment; plans and supervises a grounds and gardens manager, two custodians and volunteers all maintenance, repair, restoration and as directed, construction for the facility; set work schedules and hours to ensure coverage for a seven day week operation, approves/disproves work; evaluates employee performance

• Assists the IT Director in IT related work orders for staff computers, copy machine, phone system, internet system, Library and Archives Local Area Network; acts as back-up for IT needs on campus when the IT director is off-campus. Current knowledge of Extreme Network equipment, Cisco Switches, and IP Telephone technology is preferred

• Will oversee and assist in the management of the operations of the physical plant, all buildings and operational systems, including Fire Suppression, Alarm System, Sewer System, Plumbing and HVAC systems. Knowledge of management, maintenance and problem solving all these systems and utilities is required

• Prepares cost estimates for maintenance projects; works with Capital Projects Manager on the construction of new exhibits; orders materials and services; under supervision or supervises the performs the fabrication, installation and maintenance of museum exhibits; works with capital projects and museum's curatorial staff and art/graphics consultants in completion of exhibits

• Maintains records such as purchase orders, contractor bids, proposals, maintenance and repair, warranties, permits, inspection and testing reports, risk management claims, accident reports and other work related records

• Coordinates with other agency personnel to determine physical requirements for museum events, meetings, programs, lectures, and performances; directs the setup and arrangements for these activities

• Plans and develops annual plans relating to the operation and maintenance of the physical plant, including deferred maintenance projects

• Attends and participates in staff, department head and exhibit meetings; provides information for planning and problem solving purposes

• Plans, performs and assigns preventative maintenance and repairs on museum buildings and structures and utility service systems

• Other duties as assigned as related to the position

Knowledge:

• Methods and practices of preventative maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction

• Knowledge of current IT systems, computers, internet, phones, alarms and fire systems

• Techniques and practices relating to the design, construction and installation of museum exhibits

• Apply methods and practices of preventive maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction

• One year of experience equivalent to a Physical Plant Supervisor I

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver license record checks, required to maintain acceptable driving records and complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11)

• Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver license appropriate to the assignment
