SECTION 1: SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S)-THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED -
18 moths of experience as a Correctional Officer II with the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, & Reentry or 12 months of experience as a Correctional Officer II with the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry and 6 months of experience as a Correctional/Detention Officer with another agency.
A letter of recommendation from the unit Deputy Warden is required by the close of the announcement. Any candidate who does not provide an approved, signed letter of recommendation will not proceed in the testing process (form located on the CPR intranet).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION – Must receive a rating of meets expectations or better.
SUSPENSION – Ineligible to apply for one year from the date of suspension.
VOLUNTARY DEMOTIONS – Employees accepting a voluntary demotion shall be required to remain in the classification/position requested for a period of at least two years before being considered for appointment to any other position. Voluntary demotion applicants must have an approved voluntary demotion memo on file with CPR to be considered for a job offer. No job offers will be made without an approved voluntary demotion.
DEMOTIONS (DISCIPLINARY) – Any employee who has been demoted one level shall be ineligible to apply for a promotional opportunity for two years from the date of the demotion. If demoted more than one level, the employee shall be ineligible to apply for a promotional opportunity for three years from the date of the demotion. A demotion received after the promotional process has started and prior to the promotion shall result in the permanent removal from that CPR. Once removed from a CPR for a demotion, the applicant shall not be eligible to compete for a Correctional Officer Series position until two or three years, depending on the number of levels demoted, after the date of the demotion. The first day served of the demotion shall be considered the effective date of the demotion.

SECTION 2: EVALUATION AND TESTING PROCESS -
Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of training and experience. Study references/resources are posted on the ADC Internet and Intranet websites. All relevant information is subject to verification. Please note the following:
Each promotion or different position with the same employer must be listed separately on the resume and must include adequate work history identifying experience, duties, qualifications, selective requirements, and/or preferences must be reflected on the resume in order to receive applicable credit.
Applicants who meet the KSAs and selective preferences will be invited to the next step of the process. Applicants who achieve or exceed a passing score on the oral board interview will have their names placed on the Central Promotional Register after other promotional points are included, if any.
Rank on the register will be calculated by adding passing scores from the written exam, oral board interview, and other promotional points.
