This position is vital in supporting the Board’s initiatives, ensuring legal compliance, and guiding multiple operational areas.
The Deputy Director role includes providing broader oversight of agency operations beyond just legal matters, more strategic leadership and decision-making at an executive level, increased responsibility for policy development and implementation, management of additional staff/departments, acting as Board representative with elected officials, engaging as liaison for the agency with other government agencies and performing as Public Information Officer for the agency.
• Assists the Executive Director in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Board beyond just legal matters. Provides guidance on day-to-day regulatory requirements and legal ramifications. Ensures that the policies and actions that the Board takes, complies with legal standards and ethical guidelines. Proactively identifies and mitigates potential legal issues before they escalate, in order to lead to fewer legal battles and associated legal costs
• Assists the Executive Director by providing more strategic leadership and decision-making at an executive level. Provides assistance to promote faster decision making, reduced legal risk, and improved alignment between policy initiatives and legal frameworks. Ensures that decisions comply with all state and federal laws to minimize litigation risks, and maintain high standards of legal integrity across board programs
• Provides increased responsibility for policy development and implementation. This position analyzes, interprets, and applies complex legal principles to public policies. Provides legal considerations into the formulation, execution, and defense of policies
• Assist the Executive Director, as needed, with the management of additional staff/departments
• Other duties as assigned as related to the position
