The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking an outstanding communicator to fill the role of Time Computation Senior Manager. This position is responsible for the overall management and operation of the Time Computation Unit (TCU) and its staff. Performs a wide variety of complex time computation functions and administrative tasks. Prepares and reviews declarations and affidavits for the Arizona Attorney General. Also, works in conjunction with the TCU Quality Assurance Administrator to ensure TCU staff are proficient in the calculation and system data entry requirements that project and authorize inmate releases.

Job Duties:

- The overall management and supervision of the Time Computation Sentencing Calculation staff
- Provides direction, performance evaluations, and training
- Provides training to ADCRR personnel and outside agencies
- Prepares and responds to special requests, inquiries, and court documents
- Researches and articulates difficult legal decisions relating to the application of sentence calculations and the methodology used to determine inmate releases
- Researches and composes professional responses relating to special projects necessary for legislative, legal, and interagency purposes
- Attends, facilitates, and coordinates meetings to provide clarification and direction
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- Federal and State laws, Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS), and ADCRR rules, regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to inmate releases
- Methods, techniques, and programs of releases, classifications, and time computations
- Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) personnel rules, principles, and practices
- Principles of management and supervision
- Policy and budget development and management
- Creation and presentation of reports

Skill in:
- Interpretation and analysis of legal documents and terminology
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Building and maintaining interpersonal relationships
- Goal-setting, prioritizing, and problem-solving
- Supervising and evaluating the work of subordinates
- Studying, analyzing, and solving administrative problems
- Leadership, employee development, motivating, coaching, disciplining, and resolving employee relations

Ability to:
- Research and interpret ARS, court orders, and ADCRR policies
- Make recommendations to management regarding proposed courses of action
- Manage multiple projects, staffing, and changing priorities
- Utilize electronic tools for processing spreadsheets, presentations, and databases

Selective Preference(s):

- Two (2) years of experience as a Time Computation Manager or equivalent experience

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Retention of this position requires obtaining the Time Computation Certification through ADCRR by achieving the required passing score of 85% or higher.

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
