Job Summary:

Supervise staff responsible for conducting complex audits of Tribal gaming, event wagering and fantasy sports contest financial reports. Train staff responsible for conducting all monthly and quarterly reviews of revenue reports. Responsible for creating and updating standard work. Assign work duties and ensure timely completion of revenue audits. Verify and ensure the accuracy of contribution payments made by gaming entities to the State; supervise and conduct quarterly reviews of Tribal contribution reports to ensure Class III Net Win by gaming activity is accurately reported and contributions are made in compliance with the Tribal-State Gaming Compact, and its appendices. Verify and ensure the accuracy of privilege fee payments made by event wagering and fantasy sport contest operators, ensuring revenue is accurately reported and privilege fees are paid in compliance with Arizona Revised Statute and applicable rules.

Supervise the verification and evaluation of reports for proper accounting and recording of gaming operation revenues, assessing risk areas, and performing statistical analysis and substantive tests of the revenue documents. Person is responsible for supervising the completion of all work steps relating to the monthly and quarterly reconciliation and review process. Reviews and supervises the review of attestations of C3NW, event wagering and fantasy sport revenues. Communicates with Tribal, event wagering, and fantasy sports compliance and financial staff and representatives regarding any discrepancies or areas of concern determined during the desk audit. Draft the annual report of Tribal Contributions.

Prepare the monthly adjusted gross event wagering receipts report combined for all operators. Prepares ad-hoc reports relating to Class III Net Win, tribal contributions, event wagering and fantasy sports contest revenue, privilege fees, and revenue statistics. Supervises the processing of financial transactions including corrections, analysis, and fund transfers utilizing the Arizona Financial Information System.

This position will be required to report to the Department work office at various times, to fulfill job responsibilities, including requirements relating to the State of Arizona Accounting Manual. At various times this position may be required to travel to off-site external auditing firms to conduct work paper reviews.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

• Supervise staff responsible for conducting audits of monthly and quarterly Class III Net Win reports verifying that Class III Net Win is accurately reported and tribal contributions are paid accurately and timely. Supervise staff responsible for conducting audits of monthly event wagering and fantasy sports contest revenue reports verifying that revenue is accurately reported and the required fees are paid accurately and timely.

• Train and coach staff responsible for conducting monthly and quarterly revenue report reviews. Create and update standard work. Assign work duties and ensure timely completion of revenue audits. Conduct training sessions to Tribal and event wagering and fantasy sport contest operators relating to forms, revenue calculations, reports, and secure portal use.

• Reviews and supervises the review of attestation reports issued by the independent certified public accountant, as required by Arizona Revised Statute, the Tribal-State Gaming Compact, and applicable rules.

• Draft the annual report of tribal contributions. Prepare the monthly adjusted gross event wagering receipts report combined for all operators. Prepares ad-hoc reports relating to Class III Net Win, tribal contributions, event wagering and fantasy sports revenue, privilege fees, and related revenue statistics.

• Perform account analysis, fund reconciliations, and bank reconciliations. Supervise staff responsible for bank reconciliations.

• Supervise and process revenue transactions, transfers, and corrections in AZ360. Verify accuracy of revenue transactions and transfers.

• Maintains all reports and records relating to Class III Net Win, tribal contributions, event wagering and fantasy sports contest revenue and related privilege fee payments in an organized manner and in accordance with State record retention laws.

Selective Preference(s):

• Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel.

• Minimum 2 (two) years of accounting/auditing experience, plus 1 (one) year reviewing and analyzing financial statements.

• Gaming industry with a working knowledge of Class III Net Win, Adjusted Gross Event Wagering Receipts, and Fantasy Sports Contest Adjusted Revenues is highly desirable. Professional certification (e.g. CPA, CIA, CMA, CPM, or CFE) is highly desirable.
