Job Summary:

The Employee Relations Investigator provides HR guidance to managers and employees regarding employee relations practices and policies and ensuring a positive workplace environment. This position conducts complex employee relations workplace investigations and ensures investigative practices and resolution adhere to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and applicable law standards.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:
  • Provides guidance and recommendations to management/employees on confidential employee-related issues
  • Confers with Attorney General’s Office regarding employee complaints, agency dismissals, demotions and high level suspensions
  • Responds to internal and external Equal Employment Complaints
  • Creates, reviews and revises professional correspondence; develops and completes investigative reports
  • Provides documentation and testifies at Personnel Board hearings
  • Conducts detailed research and review of policies, statutes and investigations
  • Plans, develops and delivers various trainings on HR topics
  • Drives on state business
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Federal and State laws related to HR administration and employee relations
  • Program requirements and administrative processes
  • Counseling/Mediation practices

Selective Preference(s):
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Public Administration or related field
  • Four (4) years of experience working in HR with at least two (2) years of experience in Employee Relations (ER) and Equal Employment Opportunity
Pre-Employment Requirements:

In-state travel is required.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11)

The ability to secure and maintain clearance from the DCS Central Registry.
