Job Summary:

This position serves as a Program Coordinator in the Office of Infectious Disease Control. This position is responsible for managing grant related activities and for coordinating and facilitating a variety of stakeholders meetings. This position is critical for organizing the Annual AZ Infectious Disease Training and Exercise (AZID). This position will assist with developing educational materials/trainings, outreach events and conduct disease interviews and outbreak response. This position will also assist with Bureau-wide administrative activities, as needed.

This position works under the direction of the Epidemiology Program Manager and Office/Bureau Chiefs, providing assistance with administrative tasks, grant writing, preparing quarterly reports, managing contracts and conducting risk assessments and site visits. This position may periodically travel for site visits, tabling events, conferences, and trainings. This position may be required to participate in after-hours activities including, but not limited to, partner meetings, investigation, outbreak and emergency response, as needed. This position may participate in writing other funding proposals.

This position may provide data entry and data quality support, as needed. Employee will be expected to make independent decisions and judgments based on their professional education, programmatic experience and training. This position is responsible for maintaining confidential information and adhering to strict data security and confidentiality protocols. Job Duties:

Managing grant and contract activities; providing assistance in grant writing, preparing quarterly reports, conducting risk assessments; providing subject matter expertise and guidance on grants and contracts to partners and team, as needed; participating in any relevant grant and contract activities.

Coordinating and facilitating the Annual AZ Infectious Disease Training and Exercise, and additional stakeholder meetings.

Providing administrative support for the Bureau, such as managing voicemail, inventory, mail scanning and routing.

Developing and refining educational/training materials; Conducting disease interviews and outbreak response; Providing data entry and data quality support.

Participating in tabling events, site visits, training, and conferences.

Participating in after-hours activities, including partner meetings, investigation, outbreak and emergency response as needed.

Other duties as assigned as related to the position (typically 5% - 10%)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
-Grant and contract management
-Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary principles and practices of disease investigation and control, basic disease transmission, and general communicable diseases

Selective Preference(s):

Bachelors degree and minimum of 1 year experience as a Program Coordinator; associates degree and 3 years experience as an Program Coordinator also acceptable; or 5 years on the job experience as a Program Coordinator. Preference will be given to candidate with Public Health Experience.

Retirement:

To help you build a financially secure future, the State makes monthly contributions to finance your retirement benefit. The State will contribute to the ASRS in an amount equal to your contribution. In other words, you and the State will each pay 50% of the total cost of the benefit. New State employees have a 27-week wait period for contributions to begin.
