The Legal Secretary provides secretarial support for one or more assistant attorneys general which includes: preparation of all legal pleadings and documents necessary to process dependency/severance cases on behalf of the client.
This position will be responsible for drafting and typing correspondence; answering inquiries from the client, court personnel and others regarding case activity and status; inputting data into and using an automated case management system to maintain and track case records and activity; independently generating legal forms needed in all types of actions; maintaining court calendar and legal deadlines; preparing documents and legal memoranda; and other projects as assigned, including transcription. Duties involve reviewing, creating and processing materials and information that are confidential pursuant to federal and state laws.
Knowledge
Knowledge of word processing equipment and programs, legal terminology, legal forms, court procedures and applicable time-frames, in general and specifically and extensive knowledge of Juvenile Court Rules related to dependency, severance and guardianship practice, the principles, concepts, practices, methods and techniques common to modern law office.
Skill
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel.
Skilled in the preparation of correspondence.
Skilled in operating computer/keyboard and various office equipment.
Typing at least 60 WPM with minimal errors

Manage/handle a heavy work load under time pressure with multiple deadlines.

Must be able to handle a high volume of work and stressful situations.
Ability to operate word processor for preparation of legal documents
Ability to track and follow through on voluminous court actions in various states

Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform varied tasks and track multiple deadlines simultaneously.
• Travel may be required for this position. A valid Arizona Driver’s License is required, along with consent to have your driving record run periodically.
