Job Summary:

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office (“AGO”) is seeking highly skilled Senior Paralegals to provide legal support to the Assistant Attorney Generals with researching, analyzing, and preparing legal documents. Senior Paralegals work closely with a team of attorneys to draft, review and proofread a variety of documents and policies, rules and laws, and ensure compliance with the office’s legal policies and procedures.
Senior Paralegals have access to highly confidential matters, such as investigations, litigation, case strategy, case evidence and witnesses. In addition, the position will have access to confidential information and reports of administrative nature, therefore discretion and confidentiality are of the utmost importance in this position.

Job Duties:

• The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to timely and accurate preparation of a wide variety of legal correspondence, briefs, pleadings, motions, legal notices and forms. Draft and review legal memoranda analyzing complex legal and factual issues and performing substantive legal research.
• Prepares discovery documents and files appropriate discovery documentation and pleadings with the court.
• Managing the disclosure process in complex cases involving voluminous documents, including organizing the documents and bates stamping, redacting, creating the disclosure index and conducting document review and preparation of discovery materials for trial cases. Prepare for filing with the court complex disclosure statements summary reports and exhibits under the supervision of the attorney.
• The position will also maintain legal records, files, and case management system.

• Concepts, terminology, principles and procedures of law; methods and techniques of legal research; use of statutes, codes and other legal resources; methods, techniques, and principles for legal writing.
• Understanding of the attorney/client relationship including the need for confidentiality and discretion.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Accurate and detail-oriented with sound judgment and integrity.
• Skilled in researching and extracting information from statutes, codes, legal documents and court decisions.
• Proper use and application of information from legal sources; ability to elicit information in a legal investigation; write complex legal documents; establish and maintain relationships with representatives of the courts and government entities.
• Work well in a challenging and fast-paced environment, respond well to changing priorities and regularly demonstrate a professional, positive and supportive attitude.
• Ability to track court actions in various states.
• Ability to utilize automated case management systems and follow office procedures for maintaining and tracking records.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and perform varied tasks and track multiple deadlines simultaneously.

Selective Preference(s):

A certificate of completion from a Legal Assisting or Paralegal studies program.

• Travel is required for this position. A valid Arizona Driver’s License is required, along with consent to have your driving record run periodically.
