Under the general direction of the Airport Manager, the Building Maintenance Technician (BMT) position is responsible for maintaining State owned facilities at the Grand Canyon National Park Airport, which includes physical structures, airfield maintenance and airfield lighting. Minimal travel may be required to pick up supplies or to attend training. This position is required to know building system codes, OSHA requirements and safe working techniques and procedures. This position will work independently with limited to moderate supervision, and will use communication, and organizational skills in order to achieve positive task outcomes for the airport. Will be required to work in a variety of weather conditions such as extreme cold, heat, high winds and blowing dust; remote and rugged terrain.
Maintain and repair physical building structures and maintenance on the airfield. Execute preventative maintenance programs, building inspections which include but not limited to repairing or replacing filters, lights, walls, etc.
Airport/airfield maintenance: inspect and repair airfield lighting systems, signage, and directional equipment; weed control, tree removal/trimming and abatement, snow removal operations; fueling agent inspection.
ADOT property inspection, clean and maintain fire station building, storage buildings and grounds. Receive and documents work orders through the agency's computer maintenance management system.
Maintain and update required training. Participate in AMS and process improvement activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
Knowledge:
• Common and specialized tools.
• Knowledge of airport security practices and procedures
• Blueprints, sketches and structural components of buildings and related utilities services systems.
• All applicable building codes.
• Lawn maintenance
• Estimating and ordering materials.
• Working knowledge of building system codes, OSHA requirements as well as safe working techniques and procedures
• Knowledge of Google Workspace.

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
CDL license (Class B) With tanker endorsement
