Job Summary:

This position will assist in the collection of receivables, including: returned payments, fuel tax and audit assessments, civil penalties, and miscellaneous receivables. Will utilize skip tracing and other tools to locate delinquent customers and apply State statutes, rules, and ADOT policies. We communicate by phone calls, emails and letter with external and internal customers. This position is centered in a fast pace multi-tasking environment. Process credit card and check transactions, daily internal deposits, bank levies, bond claims, and agency companion transfers, referring debt to the Arizona Attorney General's Office, Removal of uncollected debt, and testing for internal system enhancements. Validate, record and report all revenue and perform banking and general ledger accounting functions, including account analysis and reconciliations. This position will write and maintain desk procedures and complete other duties as assigned. This position will be cross-trained with all department duties and provide back-up as needed.

This position may be available for remote work within Arizona (Two (2) days per week in the office/hoteling).

Job Duties:

This position will assist in the collection of receivables, including: dishonored checks, fuel tax and audit assessments, civil penalties, miscellaneous receivables, referring debt to the Arizona Attorney Generals Office, and testing for internal system enhancements. Will utilize skip tracing and other tools to locate delinquent customers and apply State statutes, rules, ADOT policies, and the State Arizona Accounting Manuel,

Process credit card and check transactions, daily internal deposits, bank levies, bond claims, and agency companion transfers. Validate, record and report all revenue and perform banking and general ledger accounting functions, including account analysis and reconciliations.

This position will write and maintain desk procedures and complete other duties as assigned. This position will be cross-trained with all department duties and provide back-up as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:
* Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of governmental accounting, internal control structures, and fiscal management.
* Collections practices in the private and public sectors and proper accounts receivable maintenance.
* Chapter 28, Arizona Revised Statutes and State, ADOT, and MVD policies, rules, and regulations.
* Automated accounting systems used by the State, including advanced spreadsheet functions and databases.

Skill:

* Skill in effective, professional oral and written communication.
* Interpreting complex financial information, accounting data, and ADOT processes.
* Utilizing and creating computer spreadsheets, databases, and other automated tools to complete work tasks efficiently and accurately. Research, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Google Workspace.
* Prioritizing work activities to ensure deadlines are met.
* Interacting effectively with external and internal customers.
* Applying statutes and policies to daily tasks.

Ability:
* Ability to apply college-level mathematical and accounting processes to perform complex financial analysis.
* Research problems and develop and recommend corrective action.
* Able to identify issues and provide a resolution.
* Organize and prioritize; handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast pace setting.
* Work as a member of a team.
* Understand and use computers and accounting software for performing complex financial tasks.
* Utilize a customer service approach to solicit payment of a debt and negotiate appropriate terms with difficult debtors.

Selective Preference(s):

Twelve (12) semester hours or one year of accounting experience.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
