The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) is searching for an elite Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO). This position serves as the liaison to the Arizona Department of Administration (as needed), Arizona Strategic Enterprise Technology (ASET) and ADCRR executive staff in matters related to the Information Technology (IT) Bureau.

Job Duties:

- Assists in determining policies, goals, objectives, strategies and program designs
- Acts as the liaison to the Department’s executive team to ensure understanding of IT’s capabilities when necessary
- Leads and manages subordinate staff and vendors in systems design, applications and programming network operations
- Assists with planning, developing and monitoring the IT budget process
- Coordinates studies or reviews of departmental needs and recommends appropriate course of action for viable solutions
- Drive on State business
- Perform other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- IT equipment capabilities, infrastructure systems, current technology business solutions, video and data equipment and systems, camera equipment and system needs
- Principles and techniques of modern systems analysis, programming applications, computer operations, data and video
- Modern organization and management principles
- Agency policies, procedures, laws and regulations affecting the operations, information technology and infrastructure systems
- Criminal justice system processes
- Principles of effective supervision
- Budget and fiscal control procedures

Skill in:
- Analytically evaluating information gathered from multiple sources
- Developing and executing comprehensive test plans for projects of various sizes and complexity
- Interpreting and understanding program policies and procedures
- Organizing and prioritizing projects or tasks and adapting to unplanned activities or changing priorities

Selective Preference(s):

- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or equivalent, or Master’s Degree in a related field
- Eight (8) years of related experience plus three (3) years of management experience or equivalent

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
