Job Summary:

The Department of Public Safety is filling multiple full-time entry level Service Employee positions in the Fleet Services area.  These positions are designed to provide training and experience in a wide array of functions and operations in Fleet Services. The successful candidates will perform functions and tasks involving basic vehicle maintenance/ repair, vehicle transportation, parts pickup/delivery and data entry into the Fleet Management Software.  This position can assist the incumbent with the skills, training and experience necessary to potentially advance to the role of Automotive/ Motorcycle Technician.  Promotion to this role may be achieved after satisfactory performance during a one-year period, meeting all required minimum qualifications in the classification and successful completion of the Automotive/ Motorcycle technician examination process. Under direct supervision, performs work in a structured or unstructured program to gain practical work experience in one of the administrative, professional or technical fields within the Department. May rotate from assignment to assignment within the agency to learn and contribute to administrative, professional or technical processes. Performs related duties as assigned. This classification is designated as uncovered. Incumbent serves at the pleasure of the Director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Minimum Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent by start of employment.
Must possess and maintain an Arizona Driver’s License. 
Excellent customer service etiquette is highly desirable.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. May be required to move items up to 50 pounds for distances of up to 10 feet.
  2. May be required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time. 
  3. May be exposed to fumes or dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor whether, moving mechanical parts and moderate to loud noise levels. 
Pre-Employment Requirements:

Applicants must complete an examination process. A polygraph and background investigation are required for successful applicants. DPS supports a drug-free work environment through pre-employment drug testing.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements. All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement:
