The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA), Division of Business and Finance (DBF) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Statewide Accountant III to join our team. This pivotal role will be responsible for key areas and critical assignments within the statewide accounting program, requiring a professional who can navigate complex and unique challenges with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will apply their deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements to a governmental environment. You will take a leading role in complex, statutorily mandated assignments, including reviewing and recommending changes to statewide accounting policies and procedures, and ensuring the accuracy of data for Public Information Requests. This role is instrumental in the preparation of statewide financial information and reports, including significant contributions to the Annual Financial Report (AFR) and the Report of Outstanding Indebtedness. You will also develop and maintain Standard Work, collaborate on process improvements, and potentially contribute to the enhancement and testing of a statewide financial system. Furthermore, you will review and recommend policy and procedure changes to the State Comptroller, ensuring the integrity of statewide financial data. Secondary responsibilities will include reviewing agency system security, conducting internal control reviews, and contributing to the Statewide Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). This position requires a professional who can provide expert guidance to agencies, the Joint Legislative Budget Committee (JLBC), and the Office of Strategic Planning and Budgeting (OSPB) in problem resolution, and who may be required to testify on work performed. - A Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is required
