ASDB was founded in 1912 – the year of Arizona’s statehood. ASDB serves over 2,000 children who are blind, visually impaired, deaf, hard of hearing or deafblind from birth to grade 12. ASDB operates two schools for the deaf, one school for the blind, our statewide Early Learning Program which includes birth to three and preschool programs, and Itinerant Services for students attending a school with one of our district partners. ASDB is dedicated to empowering diverse, young children and students with the educational opportunities necessary to succeed in college, career and life.

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION:

This position requires pre-employment drug testing and is subject to random drug testing and successful results for the duration of employment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Provide training to staff for purposes of becoming certified to drive a school bus per Arizona rules/regulations
Performs driver evaluations, vehicle inspections, and road tests
Maintain database for tracking certification, physical examinations, and drug test results
Individual positions may be responsible for some or all of the listed duties and/or other related duties

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Policies, procedures, and programs of the immediate work unit.
Principles and practices of administration and management.
Agency or program rules, regulations, and operating procedures.
Training principles, methods, and strategies
Federal and State laws regulating school bus driver testing requirements

SKILLED IN:
CPR, First Aid, and bus evacuation procedures
Public speaking
Office equipment and computer programs

ABILITY TO:


Communicate effectively to both individuals and large groups
Plan and organize training modules

SPECIAL CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS:


Must be able to pass FBI and State background check.
Valid Arizona CDL with passenger and S endorsement
Valid Arizona School Bus Instructor certification
Positions working directly with students must obtain CIT (Crisis Intervention Training), CPR, and First Aid certification
Defensive Driver Training program to be completed by all Agency personnel that drive on State business
Must pass post offer physical
ASL(American Sign Language) skills if working with deaf staff/students
