Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA), Arizona Strategic Enterprise Technology (ASET) Division, is seeking a Programmer Analyst to join our team. In this pivotal role, you'll serve as a Programmer Analyst and will be instrumental in delivering outstanding digital solutions. You'll achieve this through a unique blend of hands-on coding and by acting as a crucial liaison with our technical teams. This position is vital to ensuring that our digital products are thoughtfully designed and developed based on thorough user needs analysis, ultimately guaranteeing satisfaction for our diverse user base.

Job Duties:
  • Review and interpret user research documentation (e.g., personas, journey maps, research summaries) to inform the design and development of software applications
  • Develop and implement software solutions that directly address identified user needs and enhance the overall user experience
  • Collaborate with product and design teams to ensure technical feasibility and optimal implementation of user experience requirements
  • Maintain and update existing applications, incorporating user feedback and evolving business requirements
  • Proactively suggest technical improvements that could enhance user interaction and satisfaction
  • Keep current with emerging technologies and software development best practices, particularly those related to user interface and user experience
  • Analyze user feedback and analytics data to identify areas for improvement and guide the development of user-centric features
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and the ability to integrate these principles into the software development lifecycle, ensuring applications meet user expectations for usability and experience
  • Solid knowledge of the Drupal CMS including CSS and JavaScript frameworks like Bootstrap and a familiarity with accessibility guidelines on building web experiences
  • Strong programming skills in PHP and familiarity with relevant development tools, coupled with a commitment to staying current with emerging technologies in software development, particularly those related to user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) implementation

Skills in:

  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical designs, discuss user requirements, and provide updates to various stakeholders
  • Excellent ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other developers, to ensure user-centric solutions are implemented effectively

Ability to:

  • Analyze and interpret user research documentation (e.g., personas, journey maps, research summaries) and derive actionable insights for software development
Selective Preference(s):
  • Experience with UX/UI design tools
  • Knowledge of product management software
  • Prior experience in a public sector/government environment
Pre-Employment Requirements:
